Comedian Samay Raina announced on Wednesday that he has removed all episodes of his show India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel, explaining that the situation has become ‘too much for me to handle’. His decision comes amidst a growing controversy surrounding comments made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia during an episode of the show.

Raina stated that his primary intention with the show was to entertain and make people laugh, adding that the backlash had become overwhelming for him. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

The controversy erupted after Allahbadia, who has over 16 million followers across various social media platforms, made controversial remarks on the show regarding parents and sex. Clips of his comments quickly went viral, leading to widespread criticism and calls for action. In response, Allahbadia released a video apology, describing his remarks as a ‘lapse in judgement’.

The row has sparked a larger debate on freedom of speech and the boundaries of decency in comedy. The Maharashtra Cyber Department, which has registered a First Information Report (FIR) in the case, issued notices on Tuesday to Allahbadia, along with other participants, including past guests and judges of India’s Got Latent. The FIR was filed under sections of the Information Technology Act, and the department has instructed the producers of the reality show to remove all 18 episodes from social media platforms.

Preliminary investigations have indicated that several past episodes of the show contained vulgar and obscene language, further intensifying the scrutiny.
